Twitter Tips - Promote Your Articles Without Spam

Twitter is a fantastic resource to promote your articles and your article writing services but you need to learn how to do it properly and without spam. Spam is insta-death to social networking and it's important that you avoid spam tactics or anything that might resemble spam to your followers if you want to have success on Twitter.

The good news is there are many great ways you can promote your articles without the spam. It all revolves around promoting your Twitter account and then tweeting your articles when they publish. Many of the sites you publish with may even have auto-tweet features to allow your articles to go out to your Twitter profile as soon as they are published.

There are plug-ins for your blogs or you can use SocialToo and add social bookmarking icons to each of your posts so that it's easier for you and others to post your blog posts when they update. Another great option is HootSuite which allows you to add RSS feeds and even a browser plug-in that lets you automatically Tweet the Web page you are currently on in just a couple clicks. With HootSuite you can also set the time of the Tweet to later which allows you to spread them out more throughout the day or throughout peak hours for Twitter so your tweets get seen.

Now all you have to do is promote your Twitter account so that people will find you. Here are some great ways to do that:

• Add a Twitter link to your email signature

• Add a Twitter link to a prominent location on your Web site and blog

• Use the Follow Friday (#FF, #FollowFriday) to share some following love- just don't spam this feature either and add reasons why you think someone should follow a person you recommend

• Interact with the people you follow and your followers

• Using trending topics and hastags (#) in your tweets- this will allow those who are not following to find you

• Follow people you find interesting and then converse with them

• Tweet during peak hours so more people see your tweets

• Retweet (RT) the tweets of people you enjoy following

These tactics help you get noticed but they also show that you are a real person behind a real account and not a bot. It shows that you care about the people you are following and that you want to have a real interaction with them.

With these tips, you can promote your articles on Twitter without the spam and without spending countless hours of your day on Twitter instead of writing more articles.
